Patong is not for everyone, but it cannot be crossed out. This is the main tourist driver of the island: beach, nightlife, shopping centers, bars, restaurants and maximum traffic density. He is often too active for a quiet life. For those who want to be in the center of the action, this is an understandable choice. For an investor, Patong is interesting not because of romance, but because of the liquidity of the tourist flow and proper management of the property.
The northern beaches of Nai Yang and Mai Khao offer a different Phuket: less crowds, more air, proximity to the airport, a national park and long walks. This is a good option for those who do not want to live in southern traffic jams and appreciate silence. But you need to understand the trade-off: the infrastructure there is calmer, and trips to the central regions of the island take longer.
The main rule of Phuket beaches is simple: from November to April the sea is usually calmer; from May to October the west coast can produce strong waves and currents.
